Hathor's 11th Hafla a Scorching Success!

On one of the hottest, most humid nights of the year, our hafla still managed to pack 'em in with 22 acts of amazing variety and colour.  From fan veils to umbrellas, feather fans to zills, sticks to wings and lots of gloriously bouncing hips, the now-celebrated Game of Three Halves just kept them coming.

Hathor opened and closed the show, fitting two halves of a stick dance in the middle.  Perhaps we should have made three attempts just for balance - but unfortunately our scratched CD would not play all the way through.  Hathor's Webwoman confesses to some relief - the choreography got harder towards the end - but is sorry that the audience missed the piece de resistance of stick balancing and floor work that some cleverer members of Hathor had perfected.  Anyone who knows our Karen will not be surprised to discover that she quickly sourced TWO copies of the music for our finale!

Thank you once again to everyone who worked so hard to make it a success, including the wonderful dancers, appreciative audience and helpful staff at Exeter Hall.  We'll let you know the total raised in the raffle shortly, and hope to post some photos soon.  Meanwhile, Annabel of Soleil d'Egypte wrote a really lovely blog entry about our hafla.  The rest of her blog's fun too, check it out!
