Hafla Raffle

A big thank you to this year's hafla audience and vendors.  Your generosity in buying raffle tickets or donating prizes enabled us to raise a grand total of £300 for Sobell House Hospice, in memory of Gavin Anderson, a family friend of one of Hathor's members.  Gavin's family and friends are working hard to raise £10,000 to support the hospice which cared for him during his illness, so on their behalf as well at Hathor's - THANK YOU.

Hathor's 11th Hafla a Scorching Success!

On one of the hottest, most humid nights of the year, our hafla still managed to pack 'em in with 22 acts of amazing variety and colour.  From fan veils to umbrellas, feather fans to zills, sticks to wings and lots of gloriously bouncing hips, the now-celebrated Game of Three Halves just kept them coming.

Hathor has a Facebook page.

Find us on Facebook - just search for "Hathor".  We're the one with the picture of a swirly skirt.

We'll be posting info about where to see us perform next, with links to this website, the galleries and so on.

We're pleased to tell you that your support in buying tickets for this year's hafla raffle has raised £263.65 for Maggie's Centre - not bad for fundraising in the credit crunch!  A supporter also gave us £50 which she graciously told us to use as we see fit, so we've added that to bring the total to £313.65.

Our summer hafla is now sold out.  Tickets which have already been ordered will be sent out this weekend.  If you haven't got them yet, please be patient and only call if you sent your order in very recently.  Our Box Office will shortly be in touch with people who are on the waiting list.

Many thanks to all of you for supporting our hafla once again - we're looking forward to a wonderful, buzzing, sell-out event!

Photo gallery now available!

Hathor recently performed on stage in Stratford upon Avon, as part of a fundraising show arranged by local teacher Val Rainbow.  Despite snowy conditions threatening cancellation, we all made it there -- though getting home was rather more touch and go -- and the event was a storming success enjoyed by us all!

We're back!

Regular visitors will notice that the Hathor website has been down for a few days. This was caused by a hardware failure in the server our site lives on (I think this is techy-speak for "someone dropped their latte on the keyboard"). The server has now been recovered (ie someone found a hairdryer) and most of our pages have been restored. The gallery is still drying out - oops, I mean "recompiling" or something - and will be back online as soon as we can press out all the crinkles.

We are delighted to announce that the raffle at the 2008 Hathor hafla raised a whopping £318.10 for Helen & Douglas House. Thank you to all the vendors for their generosity in donating the prizes, and to everyone who dug into their pockets to help this great cause.

Hathor's 2008 hafla is over. We left dear Bert sweeping the floor as we stuffed speakers into the car and wallowed along the A34 trying not to bottom out the suspension. Night-blooming jasmine rewarded us at home as we dragged our bags up the garden and into the house. Updating the website at 1am because I won't be able to sleep for a good while yet!

What a night! A capacity crowd - we sold out a few weeks ago - danced, cheered and shopped the night away. Every act was wonderful (am I allowed to say that about us too?) Dancers sparkled and lit the stage with grace, joy and sheer exhuberance. Wings wafted, coins chimed, colours rippled and a "big bit of string" made a beautiful swan song. Ah, you had to be there....

Thank you to all our wonderful dancers, musicians, audience, vendors and helpers. It would be nothing without you. We hope you all had a safe journey home and the sweetest dreams.

Till next time....
